Words: T. MacInnis

This season, we’re excited to announce the editor at Esquire magazine has hand picked some of their favourite pieces from our AW 22 collection. From a checked suit to a boucle overcoat to worker joggers, this edit will help you prep your wardrobe for autumn.

Hitting that mix of tradition and modernity, “casual has seldom looked so smart, and dressing to impress has rarely felt so effortless,” say the Esquire editors. Read on to see the full collection and find out what’s going to make you love these pieces, too.

The perfect autumn suit

If you’re looking for a printed suit for an autumn wedding, or just a chillier day at the office, this boucle one is ideal. There’s no better print for this season than a check, and blue is a more exciting choice than your traditional grey or black check. But don’t let that brighter hue fool you. It’s just as versatile and wearable, and can be dressed down with a pair of trainers or up with the matching waistcoat.

Top layers

If cosiness is your top priority when looking for a winter coat, we’re with you. The brushed boucle finish on this one is so soft and warm, you’ll never want to take it off. But, when you do, make sure your next layer adds a bit of contrast, both in texture and colour. This ecru knit fits the bill, and its zip neck will add a bit of visual interest underneath the coat.

Mix and match

We’re loving cord this season, especially when it comes in an unexpected colour like this greyed-out teal. The silhouette of this jacket is also unexpected, thanks to the blend of traditional tailoring from the double-breasted closure and the more relaxed feel of the cord. Pair it with contrasting camel joggers for a creative twist on your usual suiting.

Softer layers

Gear up for those warmer autumn days with lighter layers in the form of a blazer and a merino zip-neck jumper. You’ll look just as smart with the blazer off or on, thanks to the more form-fitting cut of the jumper. Then, you can pair the blazer with its matching trousers for an all-season suit.

Form meets function

The ideal boot for autumn is one that looks good and holds up in unpredictable weather. This boot meets both those criteria, with its trendy tread sole and sturdy leather construction. Same goes for the light grey safari shirt. Not only does it look smart, with its soft flecks and black buttons, but it’s got serious layering potential.

The best pieces for autumn are the ones you know you’ll wear well into winter. That way, you’ll get more for your investment. Each piece in our Esquire editor’s pick collection is ready for most (if not all) seasons, and we’re excited to see how you make it your own.
