Mill focus: Drago
Founded in 1973 and located in the renowned textile district of Biella, Drago's family-run mill has established itself as a world-class specialist of ultra-fine worsted fabrics, evolving from a specialised spinning mill into a fully integrated production house.
Drago is particularly renowned for its use of ultra-fine merino wool, sourced from Australia and New Zealand, which is spun into smooth, high-twist yarns. Cutting-edge spinning technology enables the mill to create super 130s to super 210s fabrics with remarkable durability and elasticity, as well as ultra-fine cloths designed for special occasions, setting them apart in the world of luxury tailoring.

At the heart of Drago’s success is its decision to combine innovation and traditional craftsmanship. Operating state-of-the-art production facilities in Lessona and Verrone, the mill maintains complete control over every stage of the textile-making process - from selecting the finest raw wool to spinning, weaving, and finishing. Though advanced technology plays a crucial role, the company remains deeply rooted in artisanal expertise, combining time-honored techniques with modern advancements to produce textiles that meet the highest standards of luxury tailoring. Sustainability is also a key focus, with Drago continuously refining its processes to minimise environmental impact, ensuring responsible wool sourcing and efficient water and energy usage.

Super wools
This season, we've selected two exceptional super wools from Drago - super 130s and super 160s. If you're curious about what sets super wools apart, check out our in-depth guide here, but in short, these ultra-fine wools are graded by fiber thickness - the higher the number, the finer and softer the wool.
Drago's super 130s wool hopsack features the distinctive crosshatch texture of traditional hopsack, but with a finer weave for a more refined look. The tightly structured yet breathable fabric offers a clean, polished finish, making it an elegant yet durable choice for everyday wear.
At the other end of the spectrum is Drago's super 160s wool twill, an ultra-fine fabric designed for special occasions. Its delicate, buttery-soft texture offers a truly luxurious feel, while the twill weave enhances drape and adds a subtle sheen for an elegant look. A refined choice, this fabric is best reserved for weddings, high-end events and moments that call for something truly special.
Pure wool
Drago's pure wool cloth sets itself apart in its construction - the wool is woven with a two-way stretch, resulting in a much more durable and crease-resistant fabric. Pure wool is also naturally more breathable and temperature regulating, making it suitable for warmer weather.
Wool blends
This season, we've chosen two wool blends from Drago - a wool-linen, and a wool-silk-linen. When combined with wool, the natural texture of linen softens slightly but is still visible, adding character to the cloth. In a neutral stripe that will work wonders at summer weddings, it's durable enough for daily wear too.
The addition of silk gives the wool-silk-linen blend a much smoother handfeel, while linen absorbs dye very well resulting in rich, vivid tones like our emerald suit.
